Cultural Arts
“The arts matter because they are the record of our civilization and the arrow pointing forward to our future.” – Greg Reiner
The overall goal of any cultural arts program or center is to introduce the community to the world of visual language, music, dance and other creative disciplines. By providing an engaging, fun environment, citizens of all ages can explore, learn and grow their creativity, talent and artistic resources which are the keys to overall success. In addition to regular classes, programming should include a variety of workshops and short sessions to accommodate participant’s schedules.
Cultural arts programs are important to the community in many ways including tying into the cultural heritage of the city, enhancing the quality of life by offering a wider range of creative activities, producing synergy among artists, arts related businesses and economic development by providing a positive impact on the city. In addition, artists of all disciplines should be encouraged to live, work, exhibit and perform in the community at large.
Since ancient human history, people have had a need to represent their beliefs, values and emotions in physical, artistic forms taking the shape of symbols, symbolic objects and performance. These metaphors can be more powerful than language as a means of communication.
The cultural arts allow everyone to reflect, express and discover. Every person can create, regardless of age, economics, social position, education, geography, gender, culture, or any other aspect of human existence. In this purposeful manner of expressing creative freedom – the cultural arts enrich the life journey of every person, individually and in the community.
The cultural arts encourage cross cultural understanding and builds bridges in growing the economic development of a community. In addition, the cultural arts provide quality entertainment and feature educational outreach activities in partnership with other community groups.
The Cultural Arts foster creative learning and understanding for all ages.
Following is a sample portfolio of some of the arts programs I have developed over the years. Many of the programs required a partnership between multiple organizations including municipalities, corporations, non-profits, private and individual patrons of the arts.
